NBU Master Veriosn 7.7.4
Media server 7.7.4
AD Server : Win 2012 R2.
We have a requirement to backup Active Directory with GRT backup feature. The current environment do not have disk stoarge unit. All backups are directly going to tape storage unit. The NBU document saying with tape storage unit a GRT restore is not possible.
Is there an alternate way, with tape stoarge unit we can achieve GRT restore.
Another question.
Without the need of GRT feature, Can a Netbackup Standard client can provide Active directory backup/restore ?
Alos without GRT feature do we need a license "VERITAS NETBACKUP CLIENT APPLICATION AND DATABASE PACK 7.7 ". for active directory backup/restore?
Please help me on this.

Correct. GRT needs disk. No other way.
The disk image needs to be NFS shared so that the AD client can mount and browse the folders. This is not possible with tape.
About licensing - yes App and DB pack is needed for GRT.
Extract from Licensing Guide:
Microsoft Active Directory Services (ADS)
Full database recovery of Active Directory Services (ADS) is included with the Standard Client license.
The Application & Database Pack license is only required to enable granular, object-level restores of ADS objects (users, groups, computers, etc.).
One (1) Application & Database Pack license is required for each Active Directory domain that requires granular, object-level restores of ADS objects.
