Hello,
Can NBU have more than 2 Hot Catalog backup policies. And can there be more than on Catalog Backup Pool. I know the Symantec Recommendations but in NBU its possible to create 2 Catalog Backup pools, though it can have different names, but will the Catalog backup then run seamlessly.

Yes you can have multiple catalog policies and you can also create multiple catalog volume pools.

Please help us understand the reason for your questions:
Why would you need more than one policy?
Why would you need more that one Catalog Backup pool?
Please read through Protecting the NetBackup catalog in chapter 18 of NBU Admin Guide I.
You will see the following:
Online, hot catalog backups use media from the CatalogBackup volume pool only.

If I create mutiple catalog backup policies and multiple catalo volume pools, how will it impact the NBU catalog backups.
As far as I know and understand that Symantec Recommends having a single CatalogBackup Volume pool.
If I have CatalogBackup pool named Catalog1 will it work

The questions put here are just for exploring different possibilities.

Ashish is correct - you can have multiple catalog volume pools.
See Admin Guide I:
Volume Pool Properties

I have gone through the Admin Guide and practically also tried to create a second Catalog Backup Volume Pool. I named it Catalog1 but did not try the Catalog backup as I already Catalog Backup Policy which runs fine.
My question is simple, that what if there are 2 volume pools for Catalog Backup and what does Symantec say about it. People who are new to NBU always tend to ask this question, why cant we have different catalog backup volume pools.
I have never seen more than one CatalogBackup volume pool.

I have never seen more than one CatalogBackup volume pool.
Me neither, but if there is a valid business requirement for it & "Multiple catalog backup volume pools are allowed." then why not?
Personally we have *no* requirement for this, different schedules within one policy, different retentions, different tapes within *same* volume pool - we let NB do the hard work of managing everything.
.... but we only have one physical site to contend with .... so .....

Andy, I agree, let NBU do the hard work. And now its clear that NBU can mulriple CatalogBackup volume pool.
In the admin Guide Symantec should specify that this is possible, but the best way to do the Catalog Backup is as follows......
But nowhere in any documents I have found this.
