Hi All,
Need a solution for this.
Our backup is currently running through our production network ip 192.x.x.x
I want to separate the backup by assigning a dedicated backup LAN ip 10.x.x.x
What are the things that i have to configure it is host file?
How can the clients communicate to the NBU Master server?

Rick,
You would need to configure a client-bk name in the /etc/hosts file on each client.
You Master and Media server also need to know about this so ensure their host files or DNS servers are updated to know about this new IP/hostname for the client
You also need to ensure that the Master & Media servers can communicate to this client. Ensure your routing is working so they can talk to each other.
You then specify the client-bk name in your policies.
Ensure the CLIENT_NAME in bp.conf/registry is set to new interface name, and you may also need to add a REQUIRED_INTERFACE into the bp.conf/registry to ensure client backup data is being forced down the correct interface.
I cannot stress enough that you need to get the networking side working perfectly first.
Hostname lookups working, reverse name lookups working. When this is correct NetBackup should work.

i have to change the policy by changing the name to client-bk?
bp.conf/registry (means to change it in the registry editor or in the bp.conf file?

registry editor in windows
bp.conf in open source (unix /linux)
