I need to synchronize 3TB of data to the secondary site. I have a 2TB exchange volume and a 1TB SQL volume.
I have reviewed methods 1,2,3 in the VVR admin guide. Non of which are suitable for various reasons. So we have come up with the idea of connecting a dummy master server to the primary site, doing a disk backup and moving the master and disk to the secondary site and doing an alternate client restore.
The manual does mention: -Use the Synchronize from Checkpoint option to synchronize the Secondary. Copy the required data from the block-level backup and then restore it on the Secondary.
So what I want to know is, if i create my vvr checkpoint and do a block level backup. Can i do this while the SQL and Exchange services are online? or will I need to take them offline so that the applications are in a quiesce state.
what about flashbackup, can that do it online and restore at a block level?
