We have a *nix master server & looking at the daemons tab in the admin console shows these exact same processes as being stopped.

Do not use BMR
Do not use Vault
No SAN client
No encryption.

bpinetd is linked to the NetBackup Client Service on Windows. In Unix, bpcd runs under the inetd daemon.
If you check Task Manager on Windows servers and clients, you should see bpinetd.exe in the Process table. You can also check NBU processes by running 'bpps' from a Command window.
bmrd is the Bare Metal Restore process running if you have configured your master as BMR master.
nbvault will only run if you have configured the Vault option.
nbftclnt runs if you are using SAN Client.
nbkms is for KMS encryption.

KMS is explained in the 6.5.2 document update:
Chapter 7:
The Key Management Service (KMS) feature runs on NetBackup 6.5.2 and is a master server based symmetric key management service that manages symmetric cryptography keys for tape drives that conform to the T10 standard (LTO4). KMS has been designed to uses volume pool based tape encryption. KMS is used with tape hardware that has built-in hardware encryption capability. An example tape drive with built-in encryption is the IBM ULTRIUM TD4 cartridge drive. KMS runs on Windows and UNIX. KMS generates keys from your passcodes or auto-generates keys. KMS operations are done through the KMS command line interface (CLI).

Fellow forum member J.Hinchcliffe is actually using this feature and will hopefully be able to share real life experience...
