Contains information about troubleshooting database backups

Have you talked with your DBA ? Always a good idea when doing database stuff

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue

So, what have you done to troubleshoot up to now?

Can you share Oracle output file?

And dbclient log?
If dbclient folder does not exist, create it under ...netbackup/logs.
If Unix/Linux, add 777 permission on the folder.

Retry the backup after creating the log folder.
Once backup has failed, copy dbclient log to dbclient.txt and upload here.
Share Oracle output as well. (Copy to oracle-out.txt and upload.)

Thank you

It seems that the DBA install last week paths for the DB, I will work with him to troubleshoot on the issue as you explain, hope to fix

We have tried to do export of the DB, to check if is there a problem with Oracle backup process, and the export was successful, I checked the name loockup between the client and NBU and permission to access to DB folders for NetbackupUser it's ok..

Hello Marianne,

I just check the logs files, they folders are empty...what may I do ?

Thanks

Status 6 is generic "database backup failed".

For Oracle, start with the RMAN .out file (DBA should know where that is).

Thank you

The DBA has changed the DB mode from no Archive log to Archive log, does it have effect on Netbackup process ?

This means that rman failed before it got to NBU.
Or else dbclient does not have 777 permission.

There should at least be an rman .out file in the same folder as the script. This is the first place to look as the problem is clearly with script or rman.

Oracle db's must be in Archive log mode in order for rman backups to work.
