Oracle backup issues

DPO
Level 6

We created 2 backup policies one for full backup(Full_Policy) and other for incremental backups(Incr_Policy). And using automatic backup schedules along with existing "Default application backup" schedule. Oracle DBA have created scripts for full and incremental backup specifying environment variable "NB_ORA_SCHE" as "Default Application Backup" schedule in both the scripts. Whenever we start full backup policy from master server, we noticed that 2 child backup processes are created with the policy name (Incr_Policy)in the activity monitor. (Oracle DBA have created 2 channels for backups)

Any idea why this happening so ?

This has been a 'known issue' for a long time...

The policy name needs to be hardcoded in the script.

See http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH31742

DOCUMENTATION: Failing to specify the Oracle policy can result in Veritas NetBackup (tm) using the incorrect policy.

I believe this behaviour is also described in NBU for Oracle manual.
