Oracle client backups are failing with 233

AliB
Level 2

The oracle client is failing to take a backup , intermittently it is giving db_Image failed: End of file encountered 233. the other backup policies are successfully executed.

Client and Server are on Netbackup 6.5.6

Troubleshooting: Increased the virtual memory, created the MAX_FILES_PER_ADD touch file on the media server and set the number to 100,000 no success.

I can see you have done research and applied recommendations in some TNs. Have you tried this? Any reason why you are still on NBU 6.5? Are you aware that support ended for all 6.x versions in 2012? I have honestly not seen this error on 7.x master servers.

We are in the process of migrating to 7.x but want to fix the errors before we take the next step.

My guess would be a timeout when rman validates the backup fileset at the end of the backupstream

Look in the dbclient log for clues about comm issues, have had to increase CLIENT_READ_TIME and CLIENT_CONNECT_TIMEOUT on lot of database hosts to get rid intermittent errors

The standard questions: Have you checked: 1) What has changed. 2) The manual 3) If there are any tech notes or VOX posts regarding the issue
