Hi,

Question regarding what to backup on an exchange 2003 server.  At the moment we have 3 main policys as follows:

FP - Set to back up all local drives
Hosts include exchange servers

Information_Store - Set to backup Information store
Exchange servers only

Mailboxes - Set to backup mailboxes
Exchange servers only

All backed up using NB 5.1 MP6

Question is do I need to have my exchange servers in the FP policy as in a DR situation I would if needed rebuild server OS/Exchange and then restore the information store "500GB".

Yours,

Lee

Make sure you have a policy that backs up the system state compontents and at least the C: drive. For Exchange you need to have a policy that backs up the storage groups e.g.

NEW_STREAM
Microsoft Information Store:\SSG1
NEW_STREAM
Microsoft Information Store:\SSG2

There are some good NBU Exchange Admin guide available from the NBU symantec website.
