I have two questions concerning Windows San Media Servers......

Windows 2003 R2.....

One:  I have set the storage unit max fragment size to 2,000

I use 2,000 on my Unix servers...
   Whats the recommended setting?

Two:  What is the best setting for "SIZE_DATA_BUFFERS"?

   I have used both 262144 & 65536....  Both work....
   Whats the recommended setting?

Backup & Restores work OK....
For both OS & Exchange at that...

Thanks...

Working on Tuning a Windows 2003 SAN media server, I should be able to share the results sometime in next week.

So far, Here is what I have done, which improved the performance (almost double) for the same data from same drive for same type of tape drive -

- Storport Driver for Emulex
- Symantec Plug and Play driver for the device
- Bumping up value for Maximum SGList parameter in registery
- NOSHM file in NetBackup install directory.

Still playing with Buffer size and Number of Buffers

What is this?  Never heard of this one....

- NOSHM file in NetBackup install directory.

I have seen this used on Unix systems....
What effect would it have on a wintel system?  with two lto3'a attached?

Thanks....
