RMAN backup on a non-global zone failing with (error 6 on Netbackup)

Did you manage to get your problem sorted?

I am busy implementing an RMAN backup on a non-global zone and it is failing with the same error as you have getting (error 6 on Netbackup)

ORA-19511: Error received from media manager layer, error text:
   VxBSAValidateFeatureId: Failed with error:
   Serevr Status : Cannot connect on socket


NB: I have used the similar script on a another client which was not a zone and it worked 100%.

Please assist.

Hi

I have a setup in a non-global (local) zone, and it works for me (Oracle 10 G R2, NBU 6.5 ). Must be name resolution or a firewall issue for you.

Do you have multiple interfaces on the local zone ? Can the master server perform reverse lookup successfully?

Enable the dbclient log file on the Oracle server and attempt to stop and start the bpcd process on the Oracle server.
After that, check the dbclient log for more information why it cannot connect on socket, it's looks like network of DNS issue
