Restoring IIS 6.0

Hi,

I am trying to disaster recovery a Windows 2003 system with a simple

Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) Version 6.0 and I fail. Although

the restore ends with status 0 and the operating system starts up successfully,

the IIS service does not appear anymore in the service list. As far as I can see,

the IIS directories and files have been restored, but not the IIS service.

As the IIS service is missing in the service list after the disaster recovery, I suppose

that parts of the (registry ?) are not back-uped.

A search in the client log bpbkar (taken during the backup) reveals a lot of entries for IIS

but not an apparent mistake.

The Policy's Backup Selection list contains which is

supposed to include the automatically and therefore

also the components (meta dababase) of (as mentioned

in http://support.veritas.com/docs/272538). When browsing the backup image, the

can be seen in the restore gui and seem to be fine,

although there is only little information provided in the restore gui.

In addition, I am aware of http://support.veritas.com/docs/236941 ("Unable to back up

or restore the file Metabase.bin for Microsoft Internet"). However, the Veritas support

confirmed, that this document does not apply to IIS 6.0, as IIS 6.0 on Windows

2003 should be automatically backup and restored by using a simple

.

The NetBackup Client version on the Windows 2003 is 5.1MP3A.

Master Server: Solaris 8.0, NBU 5.1MP3A

Does anyone have any experience with backup and restoring IIS 6.0 ?

I thank you for your efforts.

kind regards,

Stefan

Stefan,

Just install IIS after the fact and then restore all the data.

Or

Just run Apache on a UNIX server! ;)
