Are you talking about NetBackup DLO (Deskop and Laptop Option)

If yes, you can customize your selection list, like incluse and exclude list

Let me know if you are doing other ways

I have a profie share with all users roaming profiles in it.

And Im intrested in only taking backup of
\\server\profileshare\*\Desktop
\\server\profileshare\*\Favorites
not the other folders in the profile folder.

Maybe Im complicating it and it is so easy as just typing that \\server\profileshare\*\Desktop  and it will work.

First, select the server, which will act as a "proxy" for that backup, i.e. will read files from the share and transmit them to the NetBackup (this can be any regular server which uses that fileshare with installed NBU client on it)

Assume this server named as proxy_server.

Double check that your NetBackup Client Service does not use "Local System" account to log in, just because this account cannot be used for the network authentication: use dedicated domain account for your NBU.
If you don't have such an account in your domain (yet), just create it for that purpose, add it to the Local Admin group (if you need to backup the proxy server itself) and make sure that this account has at least read permissions at the file share. Change NetBackup Client Service logon credentials to that account/password.

Now go to the NetBackup and create a regular MS-Windows-NT policy, check box "Backup Network Drives", put proxy_server in the client list and \\server\share\...whatever to the backup selection list.

Basically that's it.

Thanks for the reply.

I have one more question, the server where the profile share is located have Netbackup client installed on it, is there any way possible to take backup without using the  proxy server solution?

What I meen is ther any way to take backup of each profilefolder and some of its subfolders without having to specify every folder name in the selectionlist.

This is way better than dealing with CIFS shares.
Just install the agent on your profileholder
