Unable to backup data from SAN mounted disks

Hi,

We are having issue backing up a few clients with SAN mounted-disks. We try to backup the SAN mounted disks..the SAN mounted moint points folders were created but there was no file being backup..Tried various options

1) Explicitly put in the mount point folder example, /data1, /rman_archive instead of using ALL_LOCAL_DRIVES

2) Select cross-mount option

3) Select follow NFS..

nothing works..Anyone encounter this problem before ?

Any exclude_list in place on the client?

As a test, create a test policy for one of these mount points, ensure bpbkar log folder exists on the client under /usr/openv/netbackup/logs.
Increase logging level for the client to 3.

Check bpbkar log after the backup for clues.
You can also copy the log to bpbkar.txt and upload here.

PS:
Mount points for online databases should not be backed up with Standard policy and should be excluded via exclude_list.
Only the rman backup mount points should be backed up with Standard policy.
Best to use NBU agent with rman for 1-step backup.

Hello Marianne,

We are requesting access to that server..I don't think there is any exclusion list but will check later.

Some further info.

1) The systems are using EXT4 filesystems while the Netbackup client is version 7.1.0.2. Master server/media server is version 7.7.2.

Thanks

Please see : http://www.veritas.com/docs/000026979

You don't want to perform file system backup of oracle data, but that is what you are trying to do.

Is very likley a exclude_file is defined to prevent Oracle data in the file system backup.

I may have missed it, but I do not see the client OS version...

If you have a look at the NBU 7 Operating System (CL) : http://www.veritas.com/docs/000040842
you will see in File System Compatibility section that Ext4 is supported for most Linux versions.

Any reason why the client is on such an old NBU version?

Hello Marianne,

Yes we managed to get inside the server. There is indeed an exclusion list to the skipped paths..Thanks for your suggestion.
