On the client - you need to create a text file called exclude_list in /usr/openv/netbackup/bin.

**** UPDATE **** path must be /usr/openv/netbackup

You can also add a policy name and schedule name for specific combinations:

exclude_list.policyname

exclude_list.policyname.schedulename

Apologies - I was WRONG with the path: it must be /usr/openv/netbackup/exclude_list

Info also in Admin Guide I (not II) : http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH127081

If you add that line to file called exclude_list on the client, it will exclude those files in the path regardless of policy or schedule name.
