Upgrade master from 6.0 to 6.5.2 on HP Serviceguard cluster

Hi admins,

 

Anyone who's already upgraded NB from rel 6.0 to 6.5.2 on an HP-UX dualnode Service Guard cluster?

 

My understanding is that firstly the cluster should be prevented from switching, then one node should be upgraded after the other, using the servicename (not the nodename), following the "normal" procedure used for standalone systems. Is that correct?

 

Any hint is highly appreciated.

Hi,

 

You know HP Service Guard is not supported by Netbackup but it worked for us for ages.

Here is what I did when I upgraded from 5.1 to 6.5.

I commented out all entries regarding the failover server in the active node's bp.conf.

Then I treated it as a standalone server and did the upgrade.

Reverted back the changes in bp.conf after the upgrade. Only issue is, if your server tries to failover during the upgrade, you will be in a big soup. But chances of that happening is pretty remote.
