If there is no file then yes , we need to create one.
For windows backup host :
1 On the Windows desktop of the backup host, click Start > Run and enter
regedit.
2 To be on the safe side, make a backup of the current registry (File > Export).
Troubleshooting 226
The restore fails when you restore individual files to a virtual machine that has NetBackup client software
3 Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > Veritas > NetBackup >
CurrentVersion > Config and create a key that is named BACKUP.
4 Right-click in the right pane and click New > DWORD Value. Enter disableFQDN
as the name.
For Linux backup Host :
1 On the Linux backup host, create (or open) the following file:
/usr/openv/netbackup/virtualization.conf
2 Add the following to the file:
[BACKUP]
"disableFQDN"=dword:00000000
Note: If the file already contains a [BACKUP] line, do not add another [BACKUP]
line. Any other lines that already exist under [BACKUP] should remain as they

Hi ,
1. Did you validated your credentials from Netbackup end ?
2. Snapshot job itself is failing ? if yes what is the error you see from the vsphere end ?
3. Here is the link for VADP backup account permissions , please have it verified once .
LINK : https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.TECH130493

1. Yes - crdentials was successfully validated.
2. Snapshot are not failing. So far, I did not see issue with backup/restore . However, the occurrence of this errors logs pose a little concern.
3. Your provided link below came up with this message " There is no article that matches your request"
To add to my ealier post, below are my current versions:
vsphere- 6.0.0 U2
Netbackup : 7.6.1.2 & 7.7
I also tested giving my authentication account full admin right, but those error keep coming when ever backup run.
thank you

Hi Damisi,
Thanks for the replay !!
1. Are you seeing this error in all the Vm jobs or any particular VM?
2. Please check if there is a config file called "virtualization.conf" under "usr/openv/netbackup" in backup off host.
if any there , it should be like below .
[BACKUP]
"disableFQDN"=dword:00000000
3. If there is no file , create one and update the above content into the file.
4 . Once done try running the backup and see if still the error displayed in job details.
5.. it would be helpful if you create bpvmutil and attach the logs.

@P_Kesavan Yes, this is happening for all vm backups.
Do you mean to say create the keyword above in veritas/Netbackup/config/BACKUP in registry file?
