Hi all,
We made some changes in the Vault process and now we have 01 Daily and 01 Weekly Vault. At a certain time of the day, the two processes occur simultaneously. Therefore, we allocated 02 backup drives for each process. (Tape Library has 04 drives)
Allocating the 04 drives in both cases (daily and Weekly), these Jobs will conflict (hold), or will only switch the use of these drives? (4 to 2 and 2 to 4)
The intention is to use 100% of the resources, speeding up the entire process.
Could Help?

That's not what I meant..
Basically vault uses storage unit and sees how many drives it can use. If you give it a storage unit of 4 drives, it will use all 4 of them. You can setup 4 different storage units:
1, stu1 with 1 drive
2. stu2 with 2 drives
3. stu3 with 3 drives
4. stu4 with 4 drives
You can use any of them, but problem is to switch them around for different time. In weekend you might want to use stu2 & stu3, and weekday stu1, but you have to keep changing your policy - or you can setup more policies.
My point is that rather than keep changing or creating more policies, stick to 1 policy that provides the optimal level of usage to both your drives and tapes. Find the best storage unit for your vault job and use it in long term.

I can give you a basic concept, but it's up to you to decide what to do next.
Assuming you want to have duplications & catalog backups on the vault job, first find out how long it takes for 01Daily & 01Weekly vault job to complete.
In ideal case, 01Daily should take < 1 day to complete, so if 1 drive can do this all alone, that's the best. If not, try to add more drives for 01Daily.
01Weekly probably takes up to 3 days (over the weekend) to complete, so you may need at least 2 drives to speed up duplications for the whole week.
So..
01Daily - 1 drive
01Weekly - 3 drives
Consider this, those 3 drives may only be busy during weekend - so in weekday they can be under-utilized. And if you like to make 01Daily job faster to completion, you can create another storage unit to use up to 3 drives. However, do think about using more drives may increase your tape consumption. You will have to find a balance somewhere in between.

Thanks for the response;
I understand your point.
So, there is no way to use all drives for more than 1 Vault. Right?
