Vault and DSSU

Does vault work with images that are located on DSSU or I should copy images from DSSU to tape prior to duplicating them with vault?

DSSU will destage to tape (or what ever target device you have configured) depending on the rules you have set....

So vault will then duplicate from this target device, whether disk or tape.

Subject to configuration, Vault basically creates one copy of each image so that it can be taken offsite. If the image has not been detaged from the DSSU when the vault process runs it will take a copy from the DSSU. The image will still be destaged at the next scheduled run.

We have had the Vault and DSSU processes tripping up over each other because they both try and create the same copy number so now make sure they don't run at the same time.

Don't forget to check the global attributes on the master server for "maximum backup copies" to be set to a value greater than 2. Because the DSSU is copy 1 and the destaged is copy 2.
