Volume pool possiblity

Hi,

    In our Netbackup, we want to take Weekly backup and then next week again that backup should not pickup the same media (ie. not to get  append ), Is there any settings we needs to do in Netbackup to pick-up new media for each weekly backup and put it in to the Weekly volume pool? Can you pls suggest in this..?

Suspend the media and it will not get written to again until all images on it expire.

Thank you stumper,  So i will use use bpmedia for suspending the media's which completed backups, as nothing can be done on the Volume pool.

There is another way, if you have enough tapes for rotation:

1. Create 4 different volume pools (for example: week1, week2, week3, week4)

2. In the backup policy, create 4 weekly backup schedules.  Change these schedule's attributes:

Schedule type -> Calendar, and go to the "Calendar Schedule" tab to select "Recurring Week Days".  You can configure each scheulde to run at a different weekend (for example, weekly_one schedule to run on the 1st Sunday)

Select "Override policy volume pool" and configure each schedule to use different volume pool (for example, weekly_one schedule to use "week1" volume pool, respectively.)

Hope this gives you some idea to solve the problem specific to your environment.  There are certainly more than one way to skin a cat.    Just do what's right for you and your company.
