Hello there,
I am adding a new Netbackup client on my master.
The client OS is: Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise (x64).
Which Hardware and OS type should I select in Netbackup?
PCx64, Windows 2008
OR
PCx64, WindowsNET
Does it even matter which one I select??

It does not really matter, but PCx64, Windows 2008 is the right one.
See NetBackup Client Selections for Backup Policies in NetBackup 6.x Operating System (CL): http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH70729

Would go for the most specific option, not even sure what the WindowsNET is specific to, but that's just me.....

according to Yasuhisa's post, 'WindowsNET client type is for Windows Server 2003.'

When you say adding a client to the master server, are you adding a client to a policy? If so, just enter the client name and hit the 'Tab' key. If the NBU client software is installed, it will auto-detect the correct client OS entry for you.

Always comes up with the last O/S selected & 'tab' just cycles thru' the buttons.....

WindowsNET designation came first, and it just kind of "stuck". Similarly we see Backup Exec wording in some NetBackup informational messages. One would think Veritas/Symantec revise such things.
