Hi gurus,
There's a SQL database server with NetBackup 6.5. By default NetBackup backs up database as local system account. Database can be manually restored by builtin administrator. Certainly any other administrative account can restore database if it has sufficient previlege in SQL. However for database backup, can I use another Windows account instead of local system? Any pro and cons of the replacement?
Thank you!
Daniel

You may go ahead and change it Excerpt from admin guide
When the NetBackup scheduler is used, backup operations that are launched from a daemon process called the NetBackup Client Service. You must ensure that the Client Service has SQL Server privileges to perform backup and restore operations. If you use integrated security, you must ensure that the NetBackup Client Service specifies a Windows account that has been granted SQL Server administrative
privileges.
You must set up an account that the NetBackup Client Service can use to log in to SQL Server. The account must have sufficient SQL Server privileges to perform a backup. You can then use NetBackup to perform automatic SQL Server backups of a site that places SQL Server security restrictions on the right to back up
databases.

Totally agree with speedfreak.
Just be sure to use logon account with password that does not expire.
PS: PLEASE upgrade your environment ASAP. NBU 6.x will reach EOSL in less than 2 months.
Double-check logon account after upgrade - sometimes back to LocalSystem after upgrade.
