Please can you read the manuals, all answers are there.
This is covered on the admin guide. To answer the question, emm db is an a sql database that contains many db tables that contain various information such as master/ media server details, the media db, details of image, copy, fragments for disk backups,- there are too many tables to list and only tech support need to be concerned about them.
The image db contains info on what files are backed up, and where they are stored. At nbu 7.5 part of the image db will be moved to the emm db. These two parts, along with some other config files make up the catalog.

I've been looking at this post all weekend and one question comes to mind:
Why on earth are you point blank REFUSING to READ anything? Do you really want to be spoon-fed?
I have already TWICE (in another post and in private emails) referred you to the following topic in NBU Admin Guide 1:
Parts of the NetBackup catalog
This section contains ALL of the info that you need. It lists the directory structures, explains the different components and also how to protect them.
Once you have read this section and anything is still unclear, pkease come back with reference to the specific section that you don't understand, and we will happily try to explain/clarify.
