I am getting the error on Admin console of Windows based NB master server while trying to get HPUX 11.23 client NB5.1MP4 properties. It is working ok with all other HPUX clients 4.5FP3. The bpcd debug shows a message against arp as "no entry" and BPCD_DISCONNECT_RQST.
Actually it should show get_version_info. etc. before disconnect. Ping is ok name resolution is ok
I am not able to see the client properties page when I select the client under host properties.
However the standard policy backup works fine with those clients.
The bpcd log is 14:01:07.245 <2> bpcd main: offset to GMT 28800 14:01:07.264 <2> logconnections: BPCD ACCEPT FROM x.x.x.x.xxx TO xx.x.xx.xxx.xxxx 14:01:07.264 <2> bpcd main: setup_sockopts complete 14:01:27.041 <2> bpcd peer_hostname: Connection from host FQDN-Host-Master Server) port 562 14:01:27.041 <2> bpcd valid_server: comparing (short name master server) and (FQDN-Host-Master Server) 14:01:27.042 <4> bpcd valid_server: hostname comparison succeeded 14:01:27.043 <2> bpcd main: output socket port number = 862 14:01:47.038 <2> bpcd peer_hostname: Connection from host (FQDN-Host-Master Server) port 562 14:01:47.038 <2> bpcd main: Peer hostname is (FQDN-Host-Master Server 14:01:47.038 <2> bpcd main: Got socket for output 5, lport = 875 14:01:47.039 <2> bpcd main: Connected on output socket 14:01:47.039 <2> bpcd main: Duplicated socket on stderr 14:01:47.039 <2> bpcd main: <---- NetBackup 5.1 0 ------------initiated 14:01:47.039 <2> bpcd main: Not using VxSS authentication with 14:01:47.291 <2> bpcd main: BPCD_DISCONNECT_RQST 14:01:47.291 <2> bpcd exit_bpcd: exit status 0 ----------->exiting
It seems that the client bpcd is getting disconnect for unknown reason. In fact there should be a request for getting client version before disconnect.
This has started happening after upgrading the client to 5.1MP4.
I am not sure whats wrong here. Can anyone tell me all supported option in bp.conf for 5.1MP5 hpunix client?
Ola amici, I believe if bpcd was not registering a connection your backups would not be happening. Please do a telnet to your client on 13782 port and do check on its status. add the client using bpclient -client -add na dthen update its ip address and disable the VSP if its not the need of the hour. all using the bpclient
I would start with the basics and troubleshoot using the bpclntcmd How to verify name resolution for VERITAS NetBackup (tm) systems, using bplcntcmd http://support.veritas.com/docs/261393
I think is because are differences between the versions, same working in some boxes with different versions. I already some problems working with different versions on master and clients, mainly if you use backup agents.
I Tried to use bpclntcmd command from both server and client bpclntcmd -ip and -hn work fine from both sides. However bpclntcmd -pn is not working from the HPUX client It does show any error just hanged. I would doing the same testing again tomorrow.
Today I saw in the bpcd log onHPUX 11.11 client which was recently upgraded to 5.1MP4 error like connection refused by the NB master server at a port. Even for this client, "error invalid number" occure while trying to see the client properties in admin console but standard policy backup works!!
Do you i need to do something at server side as I upgraded (fresh install) the client from 4.5 to 5.1MP4?
something wrong at network level firewall etc? Wondering why it is only happenning to the upgraded HPUX client only?
