location netbackup - problem with restore

Hello,

I had a problem with a location of netbackup, the File system of the installation of netbackup was full. I moved the contains of /usr/openv in the new File system : /netbackup_new and I restart netbackup process, I had the error : Database [NBDB] is not available and nbemm wasn’t start.

I did a roll back. To move images folder, I implement the http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH69970 doc : i copy the contains of older folder /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images in the new Folder /netbackup_new/openv/netbackup/db/images and I create a symbolic link from /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images to the new location after then i restart netbackup process.

Now, my problem is : when I want to restore images for a client, trough the GUI, I can’t find it. I can find only images, for the 1st june to 6^th june, for all clients.

Any ideas (i'm a begginer with netbackup) ?

you are the begginner of Netbackup,  did not you take sugggestions from any one before moving /usr/openv to anotehr FS?

show us the output for below 2 commands

ls -l /usr/openv/netbackup/db/

ls -l /netbackup_new/openv/netbackup/db/

i woule like to check if the softlink that you made is  proper or not

OK, as you have found out, you cannot just move bits of NBU about, generally speaking, it doesn't like it.

What date did you do these steps on ?  Was it the 1st June by any chance ?

I suspect I know what has happened, but if you could confirm the answer to this question.

Raise a Symantec call if you need to restore and it's not finding the images!

Check /usr/openv/netbackup/db/images/ to see if the clients files file are still there - if you don't know what I mean by this, see the first line of my post

I'm pretty sure we can help you to fix it if we know exact steps that you have taken, where the new location is and details of your symbolic link (as per Nagalla's request).

This is probably just an incorrect sym link.
I have done this many times - one must just be careful to create sym link correctly and test the link afterwards by doing a 'cd' into folders and see if the result is correct.

Have you checked the contents of above Client directories to see if folder and file structure is correct?

cd into one of the client folders that you are having issues with and check contents.

Do you perhaps have catalog compression enabled?

In GUI, i choose client : pfrbst001. Date from : january 2012 to june 2012, after then i have a result. the backup images exist in the catalog.

i want to precise that in the same machine : i have master and media netbackup server.

So, 1 january 2012 is 1325376000 in UNIX time. 
30 june 2012 is 1341014400 in UNIX time.

This means that we need need image info starting wth folder 1325000000 up to 1341000000.
Please check contents of these folders.
