Hi Marianne,

I found out the reason. The entry of client name = fas3050 is wrong in the bp.conf(in windows is regedit of symantec) .If i change it to airs(the hostname of master), then restore is success.

But i have some question about it.

First,i know it mode is remote,so the client is ndmpagent one.but why the option of backup is success before?

Last,i don't change the regedit before, the installation is default and success.why it will change to the hostname of filer?

1) does Media server for backup and restore is same?

if yes,

did you trigger the restore from admin console(BAR window) or java console?

if it is admin console(BAR window)

does it open run as adminstrrator?

Hi GV

I have read this post and i have a question.

How to collect the logfile below

phgclbps01ms0f4b_log entries.txt(that post logfile)

Thank U

that was the restore log and you can find that from the server when you triggred the restore from below path

installpath/veritas/netbackup/logs/user_ops/<user id>/logs  --> windows

/usr/openv/netbackup/logs/user_ops/<user id>/logs --> if unix

user id should be the one that is used to open the netbackup GUI.

in case of admin console it should be adminstrator .

This does not seem right...

Can't connect to client fas3050

NBU should not try to connect to the filer because there is no NBU software installed on the client.

Please tell us more about the backup. If we can see how the policy is configured it may help:

bppllist <policy-name> -U
(command is in ...\veritas\netbackup\bin\admincmd)

my OS is windows 2008,but the C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\user_ops\Administrator\logs is the empty folder.

Is it any button to control(on or off)?

The [backup, archive and restore] is open by administrator.

I am out of ideas...

Backup options look good.
I managed to find one TN, but that was for multiplexed backup with NBU 6.5. None of this applies to your situation.

All I can think is that something is wrong with restore steps.

Are you trying to restore single file? A directory? Full volume?
To same or different destination?
Maybe you can share screenshots of restore steps?

OK, I will try again and prtSc the screenshot of all restore steps.

It maybe execute tomorrow.

Thank U for your helpful assistant.

I don't see anything wrong with your steps...

Hopefully someone else with more NDMP experience will see this post and be able to give better advice...

All I can suggest at this point in time is to log a support call with Symantec.

Someone must've done it. Registry entry will always match server hostname. The configured client name in registry/host properties is only used at restore time. When this name is not the same as local hostname, it tells NBU that you want to do a redirected restore. So, in your case, it tried to restore the data to the master server.
