Set the server up to backup to disk as a SAN Media Server or sounds like you want to start looking into this feature and its documents:

"SAN Client with Fibre Transport" this allows clients to send data over the SAN to a "Fibre Transport Media Server".

let us know more info on the requirement, implementation of SAN media server or FT media server will be good but it involes extra license and addtional hardware too.
i hope you trying to ask whether you can use your SAN storage as a Disk storage unit( either advanced/basic/shared), so for that come with the type of storage product u have and how you connect to NetBackup.

I also need help from SAN Client 6.5 to backup the SAP over the SAN to the SAN  media server

I have combed thru so many documents without coming across to the ones that decribe the steps by steps installation and configuration l( include the license requirement) like the "NetBackup for VMware
configuration".
I have gone through all these documents:

http://support.veritas.com/docs/293110

SAN Client Deployment - Best Practices and Performance Metrics
http://support.veritas.com/docs/288437

I am starting wondering if anybody out there has managed to configure it successfully

Many thanks for your help
