This error may appear when Replication Exec (or Storage Replicator) attempts to replicate a compressed file or directory. The ability to set the corresponding Target Server file/folder's compression attribute may be denied.

How to determine:

1) Verify which file/folder is causing the error by viewing the Alerts in Replication Exec. (e.g.  D:\VRE\SERVER\C\DATA)

2) On the Source Server, check whether the file/folder is compressed (see below).

Note: The file/folder will be colored blue and reveal an attribute of "C" if compressed.

3) View the respective file/folder attributes on the Target Server - note that compression is not enabled.

4) Attempt to enable compression by right-clicking on the file/folder and selecting "Properties".

5) On the "General" tab, click the "Advanced" button.

6) Check the box marked "Compress contents to save disk space" option

7) If this option is grayed out, Replication Exec cannot enable the attribute on the Target Server.

Cause:
There may be a 3rd party application such as Diskeeper or a Storage Management software program that has disabled the Windows Compression options.

Workaround:
Turn off compression on the Source file/folder or exclude the compressed selections from the replication job.
