Replication Exec Agent over the Internet Question

Jorge_Sanint

I'm trying to replicate a server over the web: I installed Replication Exec in a server at Location A and Replication Exec Agent at Location B, thirty miles away. Both facilities have T1 connections but belong to different Domains. What would be the best way to have the Replication Exec Agent find the Server without using a VPN? Can I publish with a Firewall instead? and Is there any authentication method between the Agent and Server that doesn't include WIndows Domain Authentication?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thxs,

Jorge

Unless you use static public IPs, you will have to use a VPN. VRE does not work over NAT. Hard to believe, but true. If you do use static public IPs, you will have to open ports on your firewall to let traffic travel between serverd. There's about 5-6 ports that are listed in the documentation.
