Deploy New Server using IP, rather than browsing Network places?

My scenario is this:

I have a server (S1) at the office running VRE, and an intended Disaster Recovery Server (DR1) at my home. The DR1 server VPNs into the office network.

I get stuck trying to run "Deploy New Server" on S1. The only option for selecting the target s browsing through Microsoft's "Network Places". Well my DR1 server does not show up in "Network Places". And for reasons only known to Veritas, there is no other visible option for selecting the target server.

What have other people done in this scenario?
I'm not much of an expert when it comes to MS's "Network Places"

If I open Explorer on S1 and type: \\DR1 then DR1 shows up in the "Network Places" of that Explorere window. But if Open a second explorer window, then DR1 is not on the list. I tried writing DR1's IP into an LMhosts file, but that still doesn't get me into "Network Places".

Any suggestions?

You can't use the "Deploy new server" when the servers are on different networks/subnets. You need to install with the CD at the remote site, or else RDP onto remote site, download the software from the Veritas website, and install.
