SF 5 Basic unable to encapsulate root - Solaris 10

Hi

I have recently installed SF 5 Basic and am having a few problems encapsulating the root disk. I get the following errors reported after going through the encapsulation process (either via vxdiskadm or vxencap):

VxVM  ERROR V-5-2-986 VxVM Information in /etc/system missing or corrupted.
VxVM vxroot ERROR V-5-2-502 VxVM Can't make rootdev entry in /etc/system file

I had a copy of /etc/system from initial OS install so have returned it to its original state and have also tried using a copy of the /etc/system from solaris 10 cd but still get the errors listed above.

Can anyone help?

Thanks

Hello Adam,

It looks like Veritas is not able to edit the /etc/system file... Are the permissions on the file correct ?  Also you are sure that / is getting mounted in rw mode ?
