Migrator
Not applicable

I have not been able to find documentation on how to use BESR 2010 Virtual Edition to do the following:

1.  Restore individual virtual machines to a Hyper-V host.

2.  Restore individual files onto a Hyper-V virtual machine.

Any help will be appreciated.

1.  Restore individual virtual machines to a Hyper-V host.

To do this you need to install BESR inside each guest machine and backup the entire machine. This will allow you to restore the entire guest. However, you will have to manually create the VM before you can restore. Once created, just configure the VM to boot from the ISO for the SRD to start the restore.

An alternative is to backup the entire Hyper-V host and then restore the VM files/disks using the recovery point browser. You would then need to manually create the VM using the restored files. As far as I know, this option has not been officially tested so may not be officially supported.

2.  Restore individual files onto a Hyper-V virtual machine.

Again, this will require you to have BESR installed inside each guest machine. You can then use the recovery point browser or GRO (or mount the image as a volume) to recover individual files/folders. All this must be done inside the guest machine.

Hope that helps.
