BESR for Clustered Exchange

hi,,

http://eval.symantec.com/flashdemos/products/besr/index.html
-> demo is impressive but i dun find similar SecureZone partitioning in Acronis

going to evaluate BESR for  Exchange2003 in cluster env (2 x  BackEnd Exchange node SCSI to HP MSA500G2) and single front end ExchangeSvr

want ability to recover single mailbox etc so an Exchage Retrieve Option Agent would be needed.

my questions are

1) have recovery point stored locally on a separate HDD for rapid Window2003 OS recovery
- thus be needing 3 x BESR license on each of the 3 x exchange servers (one FronEnd & two BackEnd)
- would I be needing 2 (two x node in cluster) licenses for Exchange Retrieve Option for each of the back-end Exchange ? how would schedule backup occurs in cluster env as ther's only single info store hosted on HP MSA storage ?

2) anyone tested recovery point convert to virtualDisk in VMware and successfully mounts ?

thanks  for any advice.

appreciate Symantec Pre-Sales input

Hello,

If I've understood your question correctly, then I believe you would only need one license of the Exchange Retrieve option, since (again, if I understand your question) there is only one Exchange database that is being protected.

Thanks.

Thanks, Bill for reply.  That's right, only a single Exchange database wil be targeted.

In addition, off-site storage has been planned and BE 'Classic' will be acquired as well. What would be best implementation technique as BE will be sitting on a separate dedicated Server with likely massive storage space for backup-to-disk purpose, then Disk-to-Tape .

Would I need further Windows Agents (license) to be sitting on all 3 x Exchange Server to allow image (stored locally on each Exch) to be pulled tothe BE server  ?

I assume SecureZone (as in Acronis) is not available in BESR ? would be a blast if it has though...
