Hi Guys,

I'm using BESR 2010

I want to convert a recovery point into a virtual machine file

Virtual File should be of ESX Server

Can you please suggest how to proceed in such case.

Quite simple....

1. Open up BESR GUI
2. Go to TASKS section
3. Select 'One time Virtual Conversion'
4. Choose 'VMware ESX Server' and follow the wizard.....

I'm restoring it to a Vmware ESXi Server version 4.1.0

Be aware; that version of ESX is not supported (yet) with BESR 2010:

ftp://exftpp.symantec.com/pub/support/products/Backup_Exec_System_Recovery_Server_Edition/336534.pdf

You would need to create the virtual machine as if you were creating any other VM. Then configure the VM to boot from the ISO file for the recovery disk (SRD). Then boot the machine into the recovery environment. You can then restore your recovery point (assuming you can access the recovery point location via the SRD).

Hope that helps.

Dishant,

This is a good product and it is well known also, I've tried to restore into the ESXi format and it works well in my ESXi 4.0update1

you can try the other way around by importing the BackupFile.v2i from your backup store manually by using VMware converter as well.

hope this help.
