Hi,

I've got a "my documents" backup that runs every night. It usually fails with the quoted error.

I've already read and followed:

Following those steps only helps temporarily, and the problem resumes the following backup.


I'm using BESR desktop edition V 8.5.5.33937 on XP sp3.

I am getting the same error. I think the problem is that we are trying to backup the very database that is tracking what we are backing up. The file is locked by the application and cannot be backed up.

A smart application would recognise its own catalog file and skip it in the original pass then copy it over at the end of the process.
Perhas this is not so smart.  Thought I think this only happens on Files and Folders backup andnot a full drive backup..
Interesting.  What is the answer? Either doa  full drive back up or buy Acronis Backup - it is excellent. we have been trialling it and will use it for all developer workstations now.
