How to use .VMDK on a dissimilar hardware for testing purposes?

Hey guys

I'm having problems starting my SBS 2k8 VM created by BESR 8.5 on a different machine to try out some software updates before appling them to the production enviroment. When I start the VM on VMWare workstation 6.5 I end up with a blue screen on the SBS startup process.
I also tried BESR Boot disk on vmware, but that didnt load up at all
Is there anything I can do about it?

When creating your VM select the LSI-Logic harddrive controller, not the LSI-SAS. Does it boot now?

What exactly does the blue screen error show?

Can you provide a screen shot?

Hi

Yes, it loaded up now without any problems. But it seems that creating a virtual conversion of the OS on one machine and then using VM Workstation on a different hardware to make any changes and then taking it back to the original hardware is not that straightforward. But it takes ages for the BESR to reconfigure the VM to work with the new hardware so I can't say its a perfect solution.
