Mock Restore for Testing the Backups - Advice Please

Hi, can anyone tell me the best way for doing a mock restore of the BESR Version 8 images we take. I have read through the manual and it says...

2 Boot your computer using the SRD.

3 When you have booted into the recovery environment, do one of the following:

■ If you want to store recovery points on a network, run a mock restore of a recovery point that is stored on a network to test the network connection.

■ If you want to store recovery points on the computer, run a mock restore of a recovery point that is stored locally to test the local hard-drive connection.

Is there meant to be an option on the Recovery disk for doing a test? Or would it be a case of doing it onto a different pc/server?

If anyone can advise on the best way for doing this, I would be most greatful.

Cheers

Hello Daveed,
I believe you would need to restore to a volume for a non-system restore test and on a different server/PC than the original for a full system restore test.

Hope this helps

In addition you might want to consider restoring the images to virtual guest OS’s like those that can be created using VMware or Microsoft virtualization technology.
