Symantec Backup with NAS

chrisirene

hi gurus, i need your advice. We're using Symantec backup 12 and it's working fine but currently the server is running out of space.

I'm planning to buy a NAS and use the current server to run the Symantec backup software but put all the data on the NAS.

Is it possible to do this kind of scenario?

Or do you have any suggestions?

Thanks.

First check the Hardware compatibility list of BE12 and verify what all NAS boxes are supoprted.

http://www.symantec.com/docs/TECH55640

To backup data to a NAS box you need to create a Backup-to-Disk folder on the NAS box.

Also add BE service account on the NAS box and give necessary permissions.

Thanks Amol, great insight!

To be safe I think buy a server that comes with the Symantec Backup Exec.
