Using BESR 7 recovery disk to delete a corrupted folder

Hi all,

I cannot delete a particular folder on the WINDOWS (C) Boot Volume. Windows says:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Date:  8/24/2007
Time:  4:01:12 PM
User:  N/A
Computer: <snip>
Description:
Application popup: Windows - Corrupt File : The file or directory C: is corrupt and unreadable. Please run the Chkdsk utility.
For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

I have unsuccessfully tried to remove it in Safe mode and recovery console. After allowing chkdsk to finish, I still cannot remove this folder. Can i use the BESR recovery disk to boot the system and remove the folder?

Cheers
Wilson

Hello,

It's certainly worth a try.  After booting the system to the recovery disk, simply open a command prompt, browse to the file/folder you want to delete, and try the appropriate command (probably "del" or "rmdir").

Thanks.

Hi Bill,

Thanks for the suggestion but it still complains the same error after I have booted the server with the recovery disk.

I am also unable to remove it using Backup exec 11d - Files - set to Full - Archive the files ( delete files after successful copy ) option.

Cheers
