Using SSR to Move OS to new bootable logical disk on RAID array

kbwatso
Not applicable

Requirement: Move OS within a single RAID adapter from logical drive with small physical drives to a new logical drive (with larger physical drives).

Want to use SSR (formerly BESR ) in Recovery Disk Mode to copy entire Small Business Server ( SBS2008 ) from the old to new logical drive.  COPY allows one to set the new drive as active.  However, both drives are on the single RAID adapter.  Will using this to move the system allow the new volume to boot... or, does one need to reassign drive letters using diskpart.  If so, is there a specific protocol to follow, particularly when using the SSR Recovery Disk?

Thanks

Specifics here: HP DL180G5 with E200 RAID adapter.  4 x 146Gb old array 4 x 300Gb new array in single enclosure.  No room for another RAID adapter.

Using the disk copy feature will copy sector-by-sector, including the boot information. It is a verbatim copy, so you should not have to change anything.
