we are using NTBACKUP for now, and it's working fine. Unfortunately, it adds an extra layer of complexity to our backup regime, which I would like to eliminate. Just so I'm sure...there's no reason that the System State shouldn't be availble for tho...

Sorry...confusion in terms. What i'm looking for is the System State. We are currently backing up from the physical nodes, not the virtual. The System State does not appear in the selection list.

(thread bump) anybody have any input on this? are there additional features that we need to license in 11d for clusters? am i missing something obvious?
