If anyone is interested, this worked perfectly. I had to re-enter VMware credentials, and fill in the list of servers allowed to access the Master, then all backups started working fine. Restores too. Phew! <wipes sweat from brow>

Thanks for that, but I know how to use the scripts, I just want copies of the scripts for Unix, not Windows. Neither of those links is helpful in that regard.
