Is it specifically running a cleaning job, or is the cleaning tape cycling through and performing a cleaning?

Not sure if this helps, but one of my client's version 10 which uses net backup, each job can be assigned to a different card, have you checked whether this is something that you can set?

What alerts (if any) are you getting? I have the same issue with a tape drive that for some reason the software won't recognize when it ejects (even though it does eject.) I constantly get an alert to "remove the media" and until I click OK on that...
