About Cleaning Jobs. Please advice.

Hello,

We currently set up BE 11d on our school's network. We have performed some backups for some weeks now, and it is about time for us to clean up the tape drive.

I have been looking around as to how to perform a clean up job but all I find is information about setting up a cleaning job for a robotic library. We do not have a robotic library. We only have a tape drive. Everytime I insert the cleaning tape it remains there for about 2 minutes with the STATUS light ON, and then the cleaning tape is ejected automatically. I am assuming that that is all that is needed to clean up the drive but I am not sure.

I would like to know whether it is necessary to do any software set up for a cleaning job for a tape drive, or whether it is a simple insert the tape, wait for a couple of minutes, and it is done.

Thank you for your help. Any recommendation or advice is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Steve Orbe.

You are doing all that you can do with a StandAlone drive.

Just be sure to keep track of how many times you use each cleaning tape, and replace when recommeneded (usually 20 runs)
