One of our sites has a backup server that is receiving errors intermittently when trying to backup a drive full of user's Outlook PST files. The backups are being started around 8pm when there will be minimal user activity.
Backup Server
Windows 2000 Server SP4
Backup Exec v9.1 rev 4691
File Server
Windows 2003 Std SP2
AOFO agent 9.1.4691.58
Using D: drive for AOFO store (1GB free space)
Backup server Application event log:
Backup Exec Alert: Job Failed
(Server: "<Backupservername>" ) (Job: "Backup - Diff" ) Backup - Diff -- The job failed with the following error: Access is denied.
File server Application event log:
1st entry
"The operating system returned an unusual error while backing up the following file:
It is possible that this file is incomplete and therefore should not be restored."
Subsequent errors repeated for many other directories:
"An unusual error (5) was encountered while enumerating the contents of the directory:
\\<Servername>\H:\Data\Outlook-PSTs\<anotherUsersID>.
It is possible that files or subdirectories have not been backed up. Please examine your job log or catalogs to ensure this directory tree was backed up in its entirety."
On other days the backups work fine and each time the initial file is different. I have checked the following Symantec Knowledgebase articles and they do not match:
Any ideas?
