As far as I know, the only way to get Automatic Duplication is to create one job, and use the Template provided by Symantec to create a Policy. I guess you could create two policies, but then you would be thrashing the disk on the first drive
Other than that:
APP is calculated from the time the first backup set is opened on the media, and is NEVER changed
OPP is calculated from the time that the last backup set closed on the media, and thus extends each time the media is appended
for example
APP = 5 days
OPP = 6 days
with the same media set,
Overwrite on Monday OPP is Sunday
Append on Tuesday OPP is now Monday
Append on Friday OPP is now Thursday
Append on Saturday Job creates a new volume/append family, since the APP has been passed
For your situation, use two media sets, one on USB1 and one on USB2 use an OPP of 1 week for both media sets, but from Tools\Options\Media Management Select the option to "Use scratch media before overwriteable media in the target media set"
This will continue to create new BKF files until the disk fills up, then reuse the existing BKF files
