Hi,

We have a Windows XP machine where we have installed Backup Exec Server 12.5 rev 2213.
A HP 72x10 Autoloader is connected to the machine.

My problem is that the autoloader is seen as a stand alone drive.

Devices

Info found for loader and tape:
Tape drive

Autoloader

Thanks,
Jacob

Hi Jacob,

Please check in the device manager if you can see media changer....
If yes then do not install drivers for the same. Make sure that it is showing you as a unknown media changer

If not then shut down the server, switch off auto loader, remove the SCSi cable.

Then reconnect the cable, switch on autoloader & switch on server

Re-check for the media changer

Check that you have latest SP & hotfixes are installed

Install tape device drivers which is provided by Symantec and check for the device version.

Hi,

does the autoloader provide different running modes?
Random and Automatic?

If yes switch to random mode.
As described by Abhijit run tapeinst.exe after downloading up-to-date device drivers from Symantec.

Another try could be to run the Backup Exec device configuration wizard and drag and drop the tape drive on the changer.
