Available memory decrease on fileserver

Hi All,

We are having an issue when veritas backup 10.0 (5484) is running a backup from our fileserver (windows 2003). We can see in graphs and performance counters that our memory on the fileserver is decreasing with 1GB at the time the backup is running. Ofcourse the system is getting very slow and people start complaining. We already installed hotfix 826751 (from microsoft) on this fileserver. But it had no result.
Amount of files being backupped: 1.908.580
Directories: 183.058
Rate: 125 MB/min
The files that are backupped consist of:
- userprofiles
- usershomedirs
- data documents

If we exclude the userprofiles and homedirs from the backup than everything is running fine. If we include them again, the decrease again happens.

Has anyone an idea.

Furthermore de decline in available memory occured after 4 hours.

Despite the above mentioned patch the memory available keeps dropping down. Is it normal behaviour for backup job to use so much memory or is there a way we can see how much memory is being consumed other than for instance PRTG or Perfmon.
