I am running BU Exec 2010 r3 sp4 on a windows Server 2008 R2 standard. Everything had been running good until about a month
ago. Backups are running. But when I try to edit the jobs I get the following error: "The advanced scheduling feature could not be
started. Try reinstalling Backup Exec." Well I have tried to reinstall backup exec but that donot fix anything.
It does open and if I can anything and submit it. Then my job changes from Recurring to not recurring. Has anyone else had this problem??

Try these steps one by one:-
1) Re-Register Internet Explorer and restart the Backup Exec server per http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH59362
2) Register Backup Exec storex.ocx and pvcalendar.ocx components. Open a command prompt to the Backup Exec installation directory (Default : C:\Program Files\Symantec\Backup Exec\) and run the following commands:
regsvr32 /s storex.ocx
regsvr32 /s pvcalendar.ocx
The registration should complete successfully
3) Repair the Backup Exec installation via Add/Remove Programs and reboot.

Did you receive any error when you ran Steps 1 and 2 earlier ?
If running any AV, have you set it to exclude from scanning the BE processes ?
Did you receive the above event as the last time as well when you received the advanced scheduling error ? If yes, pls log a support case for an engineer to review the crash dump. It's possibly some other issue is causing this crash because the above mentioned steps should have definitely fixed the scheduling error.

No errors when I ran Steps 1 and 2. I will have to check and see about the AV. It had been running fine
for almost a year before I started having this problem. Same AV and no settings have changed with that.
Yes, I get the same error each time i try to do some type of Admin stuff thru the GUI. It acts like Server 2008 R2 doesn't trust the Backup software. Just a thought.
