BE 11d will not assign media label automatically

I am using LTO tapes and would like to BE to assign media labels like this...  LTO1001, LTO1002, etc.

Regardless of what I put in for media label configuration, BE assigns a label like this:  HIC000001, HIC000002, etc.  Furthermore the "next value" on the media label configuration screen never changes or advances.

With BE 9.1 I was able to configure what the the next label number would be and after the next tape was labeled automatically the number would advance.

I am able to get the result I want by inventorying a blank tape, then manually renaming the label.  The next time an overwrite is done to the tape the label is written to it.  I should not have to do this.  Why won't automatic labelling work?

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Jack,

Thank you for posting your question to the online forum.

It sounds as though Backup Exec might not be identifying your drive's media type correctly.

On the Devices tab, right click on the tape drive and select Properties.  Looking at the general tab, see what is listed next to "Media type:" and Product ID:.

If the product ID shows up correctly and the media type does not match, then install the latest drivers for Backup Exec.

Installing the latest drivers for Backup Exec can be accomplished by running LiveUpdate from the tools menu.

You can also download and install them manually by looking up the drivers based on the build of Backup Exec you have installed here:
